Moscow Mules

I recently discovered Moscow Mules. By recently, I mean last Summer but I know I’m still late to the party. Better fashionably late than never, right? Gingery limey goodness in a glass. Or a beautiful copper mug, if you’re lucky. Guess who’s the proud owner of new set of copper mugs!

The price was almost jaw-dropping, but I’ve justified my investment by looking forward to years to come of spicy tangy Moscow Mules. They’re so pretty, and not having a drink turn lukewarm immediately in the summer heat is just an added bonus!

I use the simple recipe from the copper mug box. Although you can certainly use bottled lime juice (just as you can use regular glasses), it really is best with freshly squeezed. Plus, I look for any excuse to use my trusty Nigella Lawson juicer.

Now you’re ready to assemble. start with ice.

Add 2 ounces of vodka.

Next you add 1 ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice.

This is where you add your favourite ginger beer. Or, let’s be serious, whatever brand you find on sale (it’s so bloody pricey!). The recipe simply states ‘1’ without indicating an actual measurement. I like to use 4 ounces.

In our house we’ve got ‘his and hers’ bottle openers. Cute, eh?

Lastly, garnish with a slice of lime and enjoy!
